Cushings Disease Pituitary Tumors
Cushings syndrome is an endocrine disorder which occurs due to high levels of hormone, cortisol in the blood from a variety of causes. One of the causes for this is primary pituitary adenoma which causes Cushings disease. Pituitary adenomas are tumors that occur in the pituitary gland inside the human brain. These tumors account for about 10% of the intracranial neoplasms(over production of cells, i.e. tumor which are hard to control). These tumors often remain undiagnosed and only 6 to 24 percent of adults are detected with small pituitary tumors on autopsy.
