Scoville Units or Scoville Heat Units specially specify the hotness of chilli peppers. It also has the capability to measure the same of few other foods. Wilbur Scoville invented the system in 1912 that helps determining the hotness of foods. A panel of many tasters was set to quantify the scores of heat for different peepers. Advanced methods are there which can measure the hotness of food in more efficient way. However, Scoville Units are remembered for the originality of the system.
