Digital Postal Scales With LED And LCD Display Calculated By Eprom
If you have visited the post office about 30 years or so ago, you might have noticed the manual weighing machines used for weighing the letters. These used to consist of two flat horizontal plates, finely balanced on a lever at the center of which was a needle-like pointer (generally colored red) right in front of a vertical plate on which there was another engraved mark. To weigh the postal articles, the letter used to be placed on one of the horizontal plate, and a number of weights used to be placed on the other till the needle used to get superimposed over the notch on the vertical plate. The combined weight of the weights corresponded to the poundage of the letter. The digital postal scales have long since replaced these.
