The persons who are serving in maritime can be the member of this society. SNAME as it is popularly called is a forum which has a goal of advancement in marine engineering .The society was set up in 1893 .But then it was recognized as the United States engineering society.

USS Oriskany Essex Class Aircraft Carrier
USS Oriskany was an Essex Class aircraft carrier with the United States Navy that was named after the revolutionary war battle of Oriskany. The keel was laid down in 1944 at the New York Naval Shipyard and the ship was launched on October 1945. The ship finally entered service on September 25, 1950 when it was commissioned in the New York Naval Shipyard with Captain Percy H. Lyon in command.
