At the beginning of December, THE MERCY University Hospital in Cork is going to open its €4.7 million emergency department. This was announced by the hospital on October 31, 2008. Pat Madden, the chief executive of the hospital informed that within four weeks time, the new facility would open on a 24/7 basis, but at the same time it would not be able to provide the additional services which the hospital had planned to offer in the new facility.
