Hank Medress was born on the 19th of November 1938 in Brooklyn, New York. He did his schooling in Abraham Lincoln High School. It was from his school life that he realized his liking for towards music. In 1955, while still at school, Hank joined a musical group that played Doo-wop, a style of vocal-based rhythm and blues music. Neil Sedaka a American pop singer, pianist, and songwriter was also a member of this group. Thus, Hank took his first step in the professional world of music through this group.
