The officials of Texas warned people living in the Galveston about the storm Ike. They forecasted that the 17 foot seawall of the city might get over topped when Ike will hit the shore. It can cause severe damage by causing a flood in that area.

Denison Dam On Red River
Denison Dam, known as Lake Texoma Dam, is a Dam on the Red River of the South that creates the Lake Texoma that straddles the border between Oklahoma and Texas. In 1943 it was completed as a flood control project and at that time it was the largest rolled-earth fill dam in the world. It is maintained by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The lake has reached the dams spillway only three times at a height of 640 ft (195. 07 m) first in the year 1957 and then in 1990 and the most recent was in July 2007.
