At the end of the twentieth century two of their albums, Eagles: Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 and Hotel California were included among the ten best selling albums by the Recording Association of America. The best selling studio album, Hotel California was ranked by Rolling Stone list at 37th position in the The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

The Eagles members came together in the year 1971. This was when Linda Ronstadt who was at that point of time the manager along with John Boylan decided to form a band and decided to pick some artists. They chose Glenn Frey, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner since they were already affiliated to some of Ronstadts works.
