The Herkie is a cheerjump named after Lawrence R. Herkimer, the founder of the National Cheerleaders Association. The jump is somewhat similar to a side-hurdler but instead of both arms being in a T motion, each arm does the opposite of what the leg beneath it is doing. Alternative spellings of the term include, Hurkie, Herky and Hurky.
