Cutaneous Horns Conical Projections
Cutaneous horns (cornu cutaneum) are conical projections (consisting of keratotic material, which may be orthokeratotic or parakeratotic in nature) above the surface of the skin resembling that of a miniature horn. The base of the horn may be flat, nodular or crateriform. Histologic lesions have been documented at the base of the keratin mound. Often histologic confirmation is necessary to rule out any form of malignancy. Tenderness at the base and lesions of larger size are a precursor to malignancy.
