Bridge On The River Kwai Famous Novel By Pierre Boulle
French writer Pierre Boulle is the author of a novel, The Bridge over the River Kwai (French: Le Pont de la Riviere Kwai) published in 1952. The story deals with the plight of the World War II Allied prisoners of war forced to build the 415 kilometer (258 mile) railway by Japanese forces. Though the story is fictive, it uses the construction of the Burma Railway, in 1942-43, as its historical setting. The novel won Frances Prix Ste Beuve in 1952. This novel was made into an equally film titled The Bridge on the River Kwai by David Lean in 1957.
