The announcement relating to the induction of 9 candidates to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame of 2009 was made on 22nd September, 2008. It was inclusive of the proto-punk rock group the Stooges, hip-hop act Run-DMC as well as the heavy metal band Metallica. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is basically a museum that is situated on the shores of Lake Erie in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, United States.
