In about 1960, the American shorthair was crossbred with the Persians in the United States and thus shorthaired Persians called exotic shorthairs or simply called Exotic Cat was born. It got recognition in 1966 by C.F.A. They are also called “The Lazy Man’s Persian” as these cats possess the persona and body of a Persian cat without the long-hair.
