Alaska Plane Crash Near Ketchikan Island
The Alaska plane crash took place near Ketchikan Island, a city in southeast Alaska. Five people were killed when this plane meant for sightseeing crashed. Alaska state troopers said four of the five people who died were from Oregon. It had four survivors, including Allison N. Smith, 3, of Tualatin; and Mindy M. Mayer, 60, of Oregon City. The pilot, Clifford Kamm, of Ketchikan, and another woman from Ketchikan also survived.

Theodore Fulton Stevens, popularly known as Ted Stevens, was born on November 18, 1923 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is Alaskas senior United State Senator. So far he is the longest Republican in the Senate and has served as a President pro tempore between the years January 3, 2003 and January 3, 2007. He is Episcopalian by religion.

Dr Chester Mayo an Aberdeen orthopedic surgeon and descendant of one of the brothers who built the Mayo Clinic, died in a plane crash at southern Minnesota airport when he was trying to land his small plane at the Faribault airport.
