Alexander Pope (1688-1744) was born in London as a Roman Catholic. His education was disrupted due to the prevailing political upheaval. He attended Twyford School and Hyde Park Corner. His growth was stunted due to Pott’s disease. Later he shifted to Berkshire. He grew up reading varied books by Greek, Italian, English, Latin and French authors. He had started writing poetry at the tender age of twelve and his first poem was Ode To Solitude.
