 COCCYX The Tailbone

Health >> COCCYX The Tailbone

Coccyx, usually known as the tailbone, is the last part of the human vertebral column. It is structured of four fused vertebrae and is placed below the sacrum (the large triangular bone at the base of the spine, connecting the final lumbar vertebra and with the coccyx). Coccyx is joined with the sacrum in such a way so as to allow little movement between them. Etymologically, the word coccyx comes from the Greek and means cuckoo, hinting at the shape of a cuckoos beak.
