Carlos Sousa, a youth from San Jose visited the san Francisco Zoo on December 25,2007 to celebrate Christmas. But the visit turned out to be his last Christmas celebration. Tatiana, a four year old female tiger mauled Carlos at the zoo premises leaving him dead and injured two of his companions who are still fighting for their lives. The tragedy happened around 5 p.m. when the victim and two of his friends were among an estimated 20 people in the zoo as it was preparing to close for the day.
