Hurricane Ike caused a massacre in Central Ohio. It is reported that approximately 1.9 million homes and offices in Ohio were out of power since Monday night. Central Pacific Hurricane Center Issues Warnings
The Central Pacific Hurricane Center is the official body for tracking and issuing warnings for tropical cyclones in the Central North Pacific Basin. The Center is a division of the United States Weather Service and besides warnings, it also issues watches, advisories, discussions and statements in regard to cyclones building over the Central North Pacific Basin. The Center is located in Honolulu, Hawaii and officially started functioning from the 1970 season when it replaced the previous forecaster, the Joint Hurricane Warning Center.
