Greek god of war is Ares or Aris. He is the son of Zeus and the Hera. The Roman mythology had Mars as Ares' counterpart. Ares' sister Athena symbolized strategic war, while Ares' was more of a violent kind of warfare. 'Ares' had often been used as an epithet in ancient Greece, like, 'Zeus Areios', 'Athena Areia'etc.
