Just Chirping About The Brown Thrasher Ferruginous Mocking Bird Official State Bird Of Georgia
The Brown Thrasher, popularly known as the Ferruginous Mocking Bird is designated as Georgia’s official State Bird. Its scientific name is Toxostoma rufum and this name is obtained from Greek words toxon, meaning a bow and stoma meaning mouth which justifies the curved bill of the bird. The second part of the name “rufum” means reddish in Latin and this is used to describe the bird’s body color.
