The brown bear, scientifically named Ursus arctus, is a species that is found in almost all parts of the Northern Hemisphere. They generally appear in shades of blonde, brown and black. These are very powerful animals capable of breaking a neck or spine of a fully grown buffalo in a single blow. They have a large hump of muscle over their shoulder which provides tremendous strength to their forelimbs. They possess a very powerful claw, which extend up to 15 cm in length. These are specialized mainly for the purpose of digging. However, unlike other carnivorous animals, their claws are dull edged. Though the Bear is large and bulky in size, it can run at a speed of 56 kilometers per hour. Their huge stamina enables them to run for miles without stopping.
