The bird feeders should be placed in a space in the garden where the enemies of small birds like cats cannot hide. The Squirrel is a creature that often devours the contents of bird feeders and even carries the food to the hoards.

For preventing this, several anti-squirrel devices are sold in the markets. The caged feeders are designed in such a way that the birds can fly in, but squirrels are denied entry. Alternatively, one can place a separate squirrel –feeder in the garden to satisfy the four-legged creatures.

However, the use of Bird Feeders has often caused controversies in some places. The detractors of the device have argued that it can put the birds at risk in several ways. Besides, the predators like cats can attack the birds while they devour food at the feeders. The chances of the birds colliding against windows and doors of the houses can not be ruled out either.
