US Constitution Supreme Law Authority Magna Carta American Bill Of Rights

The US Constitution acts as the supreme law authority of the country and provides the outline for the establishment of the government. The Constitution drafts rules about the organization of the three main branches that the government works on. These are the legislative branch of the bicameral Congress, the executive branch, with the President as its legal head and the judiciary branch that has the Supreme Court at its head.

The U.S. constitution has laid down specifically the powers each branch can exercise in its activities. There are also provisions for the different rights the states may have in compliance with the federal system of government. The US Constitution came into existence on 17th September, 1787 after the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. Each state later approved by each of the states through conventions that were called "the People".

The U.S Constitution has been amended twenty-seven times since then, the first ten of these amendments being called the Bill of Rights. The Constitution is the supreme body in all the law and political culture of the United States. The U.S. Constitution is the oldest federal constitution in the world. The US Constitution reflects influences from different sources of its existence along with some new ideas. A large part of the constitution have been written from the Republicanism literature of the country while some are scripted from the varied experiences of its 13 states and also the experiences of the British Government in running mixed government.

The major influence on the US Constitution from Europe came from Montesquieu, who underlined the need of balance of forces to stop any kind of oppression. Many of the clauses of the Constitution were formed on common laws that were derived from the Magna Carta. One of the major motivations for the enactment of the American Bill of Rights was the English Bill of Rights.

In all started in September 1786, when the commissioners of five states held a meeting in the Annapolis Convention. The agenda of the meeting was to improve commerce by adjusting the Articles of Confederation. In the meeting, it was decided to invite the representative of states for a convention to be held in Philadelphia.

The Constitution was completely written in Philadelphia on 17th September 1787. The Convention committee submitted the document of the constitution to the Congress of the Confederation for approval.
