Bill Bixby's career as an actor started in 1961, when Bixby appeared at the Detroit Civic Theater in the musical The Boyfriend. He returned to Hollywood to make his television debut in an episode of The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis.

With many 1960s TV series including Ben Casey, The Andy Griffith Show, The Twilight Zone, and Dr. Kildare and Hennessey under his belt, Bill Bixby became a highly popular actor. In 1962, he made his appearance in The Joey Bishop Show and made guest-appearances throughout the 1970s in several TV series such as Insight, Iron side, Barbary Coast, The Love Boat, and in four episodes of Love, American Style, Medical Center, Fantasy Island and in two episodes of The Streets of San Francisco.

Bill Bixby was nominated for the Emmy Award in 1976 for outstanding performance in a single appearance. In My Favorite Martian, Bixby took the role of young reporter Tim O'Hara. Due to high production costs and bad scripts, the series was put to an end after 107 episodes in 1966.

In 1969, in the successful drama show The Courtship of Eddie's Father on ABC, Bill Bixby got his second high profile television role as Tom Corbett. The series revolved around the story of a widowed father grooming a young son and trying to re-establish himself. For this role, Bill Bixby won the Parents Without Partners Exemplary Service Award in 1970 and 1972. He also made his directorial debut with the show. In 1972, after 73 episodes, ABC pulled the plug on the sitcom. Bixby starred in The Magician in 1973.

Though the series was well linked, it lasted for only one season. As Bill was a talented and successful amateur magician, he hosted several TV specials in the mid-1970s. Those serials also featured several other amateur magicians. Having appeared on Password and The Hollywood Squares, he became a popular game show panelist. In the Disney movie The Apple Dumpling Gang (1975), he co-starred with Tim Conway and Don Knotts. He worked with Susan Blakely in Rich Man and after that, he returned to television again.

He also appeared in Poor Man, another extremely successful television mini-series of 1976. The Incredible Hulk was another of his film that became famous in 1977. Bixby starred as Dr. David Banner in this two-hour long movie.

Bill Bixby was born on 22nd January 1934. He was an actor-cum-director as well as a television and game show panelist. His career spanned over three decades. He made his presence felt on stage, in motion pictures and in five TV series. The most prominent television roles of Bill Bixby were Tim O'Hara in My Favorite Martian on CBS; Tom Corbett in The Courtship of Eddie's Father on ABC; Anthony Dorian in The Magician on NBC; Dr. David Banner in The Incredible Hulk on CBS; and Matt Cassidy in Goodnight Beantown on CBS. He died on 21st November 1993. Bill Bixby
