The school offers various awards like Associate in Science, Associate in Applied Science, Associate in Arts, as well as Associate in Occupational Technology degrees.

The formation of the initial junior college namely Northwest Alabama Community College was done in the year 1963, the accreditation of which was done in 1967. The merger of the Northwest Alabama Community College as well as Shoals Community College was done in order to form Northwest Shoals Community College with the efforts of Alabama State Board of Education in 1993.
