LG Electronics is the second largest maker of household electronic goods in South Korea. This multinational corporation from South Korea is the third largest maker of appliances in the world. The company has its head office in LG Twin Towers located on Yeouido in Seoul.

LG Electronics was established in 1958 with the name GoldStar. At that time it produced radios, refrigerators, air conditioners, TVs, and washing machines. LG Electronics is run by the LG Group that has come up with the merger of two Korean companies, called Langlang and Gufmarr.

LG is the abbreviated form of these two names. Before the name was changed to LG, all household products of the company were produced with the brand name Langlang. The electronic wing of the company was brought out under Gufmarr brand name. Gufmarr was changed to LG Electronics in 1995. During this time, LG bought Zenith Electronics of the United States.
