
Buckley Country Day School refers to a private coeducational day school running independently and imparting elementary education to toddler of 8th grade. The inauguration of the school was done in the year 1923.
The Buckley School was started with 23 kids with the opening of its initial building in Great Neck. After getting success and increment in the number of enrollment the school shifted its base to its current place in the Village of North Hills which was situated in Roslyn. The total numbers of person holding membership in Board of Trustees who run this school have the base as not-for-profit.
The charter of Buckley School was done by the Board of Regents belonging to the University of the State of New York. The school also holds the membership of the National Association of Independent Schools. The accreditation of the school was done by the New York State Association of Independent Schools. The motto that is followed by this school is Knowledge & Friendship.
The seat of the headmaster was occupied by the Jean-Marc Juhel, Ph. D. The foundation of the Buckley School was done by B. Lord Buckley. The total numbers of faculty in the school was calculated to be 40 who are imparting education to nearly 330 students. Red and blue was selected as the official color by the school and has the bulldog in the form of mascot. It also maintains its official website as www.buckleycountryday.com.
The total area covered by the campus of Buckley School is 25 acres and is comprised of tennis courts, three athletic fields, as well as a playground. Its building includes two science labs, classrooms, an art studio, three gymnasiums, a woodshop as well as, two computer labs. In recent times the inauguration of the Hagedorn Library Learning Center was done which collects 16,000 volumes.
The Buckley School also includes a pond as well as four swimming pools, and allows using it only in summer at the time of Buckley Camp. The important alumni belonging to this school were John McEnroe, popular tennis player; founder of Amie Street namely Elias Roman; computer science professor Julian Lombardi and many more. The school also organizes a fair every year in the month of October starting from 1973.
