Jesus who is popularly known, as Jesus Christ is one of the most revered figures in Christianity and is known as the incarnation of God. If we look at the etymology of the word Jesus we will find that Christ comes from Greek, which means “Anointed One” which actually closely resembles the word Messiah that comes fro Hebrew.


Most of the things that are known by Jesus come from the gospels and Bible. The gospels are full of His teachings. The Bible scholars have come with the theory that Jesus was born in the Galilean Jewish community and was baptized by John the Baptist. He was crucified in Jerusalem by the Roman soldiers.

The teachings of Jesus are known as the basic principles of Christianity. He was known as the Messiah, the Divine One who was sent by God to help the Jews. The Doctrine of Trinity is accepted by most of the Christians. Nobody can actually calculate the time of the birth of Jesus. The scholars have come with an approximate date. It is known that Jesus was born between 6 and 4 BC or BCE. The Christians celebrate 25th December as the birthday of Jesus Christ. Each of the gospels actually depicts the life and teachings of Jesus in different ways.

It is known that Jesus was born to Virgin Mary and Joseph who fathered the child. After the child was born he was put inside a manger an angel announced the birth of the new Messiah. It is said that the birth of Jesus was predicted by the Three Magi or the Wise Men who knew that God’s son was coming on Earth for salvation. They were the first who brought gifts to the child.

Jesus was brought up in Nazareth. Till Herod’s death Jesus and his family stayed in Nazareth. In other gospels it is also known that Jesus was the son of a carpenter Joseph. The baptism of Jesus is one of the major events in the world of Christianity. After the baptism of Jesus it is known that he was taken to the desert where he was put through several tests like fasting for 40 days and 40 nights.

It was precisely during this time that Devil appeared before him and put him through tests like tempting him. After the departure of Devil the angels nourished him and Jesus was brought back as he won the test. There are many miracles that Jesus performed for his disciples like turning water into wine and making the dead alive or simply curing the ailing from diseases. During the ministry of Jesus there were three different feasts. Many of the teachings of Jesus actually come from Sermon on the Mount. He was a teacher who met with several people especially those who were known as outcasts of the society. Jesus
