The word antioxidants have been heart all around the medical
field. Around the market, consumers often hear that antioxidants are healthy. Scientists
and medical researchers states that high consumption of antioxidants can lead
to a healthy lifestyle. Antioxidants help prevent many diseases and maintain
your body’s health. In this article, I will discuss some of the uses of
antioxidants and how it is related to other minerals found in various foods.
These are foods which consist of vitamin C, vitamin E, alpha-lipoic acid and
N-acetyl cysteine.
Antioxidants are natural substances that help protects the
body from devastations of free radicals. These free radicals include atoms that
cause harm to body cells which weakens the immune system. These free radicals
can direct to illnesses and degenerative disease such as heart disease and
tumor. However, any healthy body produces free radicals. Free radicals may be
formed from exposure to sun, deadly chemicals, air contamination and other
metabolic processes. A healthy body is always ready to obtain antioxidants from
foods such as vitamin A, carotenoids, vitamins C and E, and others.
There are many supplements that relate to antioxidants.
Vitamin C is a antioxidant that comes from diet or supplements. Vitamins C can
be found in fruits, vegetables, berries, and citrus produces. Vitamin C can
reduce asthma attacks, and protects the body from air pollution. Vitamin C also
protects the body from cancerous substances such as infections.
Another antioxidant is Vitamin E. Vitamin E is formed from
two esters. The ester is more resistive to oxidation. Vitamin E can greatly
induce the growth in a cancerous cell.
Alpha lipoic acid is another known antioxidant. This
antioxidant is a recycler of Vitamins C and E. These acids can help restore
antioxidant levels after fighting off the free radicals. Lipoic acid also
stimulates the creation of glutathione in the body which helps the absorption
of coenzyme. The alpha lipoic acid is soluble in water and deactivates free
radicals.
Lastly, another related antioxidant is the N-acetyl
cysteine. This antioxidant is used by the liver and fights of toxic chemicals
in the body. It is very helpful in fighting off alcohol, tobacco smoke and
other pollutants. These chemicals can be very dangerous to your body’s immune
system. N-acetyl cysteine also boosts the body levels of enzymes, and slowing
the cellular harm in aging. Similar to Vitamin C, N-acetyl cysteine helps your
body become more stabilize and energize.
