The BME pain Olympics is an online magazine which writes about the different body modifications. These include tattooing, suspension, different body piercing and ritual scarification in the public sections. BME stands for Body Modification Ezine.

The pain Olympics site has a section for the members and is known as BME/extreme. It shows all about implants, eunuchs, saline inflation, amputation, sub incision, silicone and other body changes. There is a separate section for the adults which are called BME/hard. The section deals with the erotic application of the different acts and modifications as mentioned above like the cock and ball torture.

It all started in 1994 as a website by Shannon Larratt which was the first of its type. The pain Olympics is presently the largest of its kind, having thousands of images and stories which are also unique. The website covers full range of body modification. The website claims to explode many myths about body modification and also about the community.

There are many sections of FAQs along with a wiki encyclopedia. In 2000, the website got further expansion when IAM was added to it. There is a community that writes blog for the members of BME. Those who are logged on to the site can read the profiles as well as other users’ diary entries. They can also participate in different forums and also get into chatting with other members.

In 2005, BME pain Olympics added two new features, the BMEvideo, which is a video sister site and a Modblog that is a blog. One will come across hoax articles that are published by the site on April Fool’s Day every year. Shannon as well as Rachel Larratt had earlier appeared in the feature film Clerks II, which is a feature film by Kevin Smith.

The site came under criticism for showing nudity, torture and some other content related to adults. It was blocked in Germany in1999 as the site was found to be a danger to the young generation. Google was forced to take away the site from its search engine by German agency.
Later Shannon Larratt wrote that after the incident, he decided not to visit Germany again, though being a German citizen. Similarly, as the pressure from the US government mounted, all the servers as well as the offices were removed out of the country. But the authorities did not make any changes to the site or removed any images. pain Olympics
