Several types of tax forms are used in U.S by the tax-exempt organizations and tax payers. These forms are used for reporting the fiscal information to the Internal Revenue Service. Tax form of 1099 series is also one such form that many US citizens need to have to pay their taxes successfully.

The tax forms are needed for calculating taxes and reporting income to then U.S. government. The Internal Revenue Service or the IRS has promulgated the form 1099. This form is used in the income tax system of U.S for calculating and filing report of ones income. The income from salary, tips and wages are not included in the income criteria as determined by this form. The taxpayer for a transaction should complete the total set of 1099 form. There should be three copies of the form. One is to be submitted to I R S, one is for the payee and other is for the payer. The IRS 1099 has a guideline for reporting the payments that should be reported. This form is mainly required for the business men. For example the money a contractor receives is reported under this form.

This type of payment in the terminology of IRS is non-employee compensation. The form 1099 thus is not applicable for a corporation. There are huge number of organizations and businesses that submit a large number of 1099 form in a year.

There are many payers who submit more than two hundred and forty nine 1099 forms. They should file all the forms magnetically or electrically with IRS. They should apply for return and corrected return separately. The IRS prefer the payers to submit the form electronically than submitting it on papers. A payer is required to file form 1096 along with 1099. The form 1096 summarizes the information forms that are being submitted to IRS. 1096 form is required with all the information forms that one submits to the tax department.

Today, like every other form the 1099 form too is available on the Internet. One can easily download these forms. In the website of IRS the forms 1099 and the guidelines for using the form is available. Filers can submit their own tax return by reading the guidelines given on the form. Payers are advised to give a Combined Form 1099 to the payee that combines all the transactions they made with 1099 form annually. Form 1099
