Boston Market earlier known as Boston Chicken refers to a chain of fast casual restaurants having its headquarter based at Golden, Colorado. The foundation of this market was laid in the month of December 1985 in Newton Massachusetts.
The chain of the market increased very fast at the beginning as well as in the mid of the year 1990. However it was declared bankrupt at the end of the year 1990. Later on Boston Market was bought by McDonald's Corporation in May 2000. McDonald’s bought this company in the beginning for its real estate but afterwards discovered that the brand was good enough and as a result of which they started to control and increase the chain of the market.
McDonald's declared their plan to sell the Boston Market chain in the hands of Sun Capital Partners as on 6th August 2007. The deal was finalized and was completed on 27th August, 2007. As per the records of August 2007, the chain of the market spread up to 630 locations in 28 different states. The total number of labor who worked under this chain were calculated to be 14,000. At the onset of 2000s the operation of Boston Market was carried out at two places in Toronto.
It managed to reach the market of Australia in the beginning of the year 2002 and by 2004 the inauguration of nine stores was done in Sydney. At the time when it carried its name as Boston Chicken, it had its speciality as rotisserie chicken as well as different kinds of side dishes. It increased the number of items in its menu in 1995 by adding meatloaf, roasted sirloin, turkey as well as sandwiches and also began with the use of the name Boston Market. The other items that are provided by the stores are white cod and ham.
The availability of Frozen meals and side dishes was initiated on the national level under the brand name Boston Market inspite of the fact that the manufacturers were H. J. Heinz Company. The month of April 2004 marks the introduction of chilled menu items in the supermarkets and by December 2005 these chilled items could be get in 700 supermarkets.
