The mining companies that were earlier found in Picher, Oklahoma were Asarco, the operation of which was carried out in the form of Federal Mining and Smelting Company. The other one was Eagle-Picher Mining & Smelting Company. It was on May 10, 2008 that a tornado hit Picher taking the lives of nearly nine people.
