Seneca Falls Convention Established Womens Rights Founded By Lucretia Mott Elizabeth Cady Stanton
The first Woman’s Rights Convention of 1948 seemed to be an obvious outcome after the conference at the World Anti-Slavery Convention in London where Lucretia Mott, a Quaker preacher and a reformist and other women delegates were refused seats on account of gender discrimination. It is at this conference that Mott met Elizabeth Cady Stanton, the wife of an antislavery agent. The two ladies had a discussion on the rights of women and talked of calling a convention to address these concerns.
