The album belonging to the rock band named The Eagles as on December 8, 1976 is called as Hotel California. The recording of the album was done in between the months March to October 1976 at Criteria Studios that is located in Miami, FL and in Record Plant Studios, Los Angeles, CA.
The album Hotel California was based on rock genre and was under the Asylum label. Bill Szymczyk carried out the production. This album marked as the first album with the absence of founding member namely Bernie Leadon and the presence of Joe Walsh. This album landed up with huge success and was included among the top 15 best-selling albums.
It did happened to be the last album that included the original bass player as well as singer Randy Meisner. Hotel California was put up on the 38th place on 100 Greatest Albums by the TV network called as VH1 in the year 2001. Further in 2003, it got the 37th rank in the list of the 500 greatest albums of all time of Rolling Stone magazine.
After getting released on standard LP, cassette and 8-track cartridge formats the album was further released 25 years later in a Multichannel 5.1 DVD-Audio disc. There also exists a hotel in Todos Santos, Mexico having the name similar to the album and it is also considered as the inspiration to the album. Hotel California album has turned up with the essence of temptation, fears, grief on divorce, death and all such feelings.
The cover of the Hotel California was formed by David Alexander and displays the Beverly Hills Hotel. Don Felder has played the steel guitar, slide guitars, acoustic guitar and on the other hand Glenn Frey was up with the piano, keyboards and synthesizer. The art direction of the album was meticulously carried out by Don Henley and John Kosh with the string arrangements done by the conductor Jim Ed Norman.
The song "Hotel California" of the album managed to land up with the Record Of The Year award in the year 1978 and the other song "New Kid in Town" got Best Arrangement For Voices in 1977. The song “Hotel” as included in the album got the Grammy Award nomination in 1978 falling into the category song of the Year.Hotel California
