Greyhound Bus Line Offers Great Deals


Greyhound Bus Line offers rides across the nation and cross the Canadian borders. There are more than 3700 destinations around the US. Greyhound Bus Lines were found in Hibbing, Minnesota in 1914. Currently, Greyhound lines have corporate locations in Dallas, Texas and Alberta, Canada.


Looking back at the history of the Greyhound Lines, Carl Wickman started the avalanche in 1914. He was born in Sweden. He moved to the US in 1914. After settling, he started his first bus service in Minnesota. He provided rides for iron miners from Hibbing to Alice, Texas. The cost of the ride was cheaply 15 cents.

After a year of work, he worked with Ralph Borgan, and created a company called the Masaba Transportation Company. The company became successful and at most made $8,000 dollars in profit.

Soon in 1922, Wickman again worked with another man named Orville Caesar. He was the owner of another successful company called Superior White Bus Lines. In 1926, Wickman agreed to manage the Pickwick Lines and Pioneer Yelloway System which later became Greyhound Lines. Wickman became the president of the company. In 1954, Wickman passed away. Orville Caesar took his spot as president.

By 1960s, Greyhound lines had begun transporting people from California to New York. There were famous slogans such as “99 days for $99 dollars.” Greyhound Lines became very profitable and was a good investment for others.

In 1970, Greyhound Lines settled in Phoenix, Arizona which brought many meat packing factories to invest in it.

In 1984, Greyhound had a driver strike. The strike lasted for many weeks, and with a fatality in Ohio, Greyhound Lines have decided to send in new owners. Fred Currey became the new owner of the Greyhound Lines. He was the former executive for the National Trailway Bus System.

Soon, Greyhound Lines once again moved to a new and current location, Dallas Texas.
Currently, with increasing security and improving bus routes, Greyhound Line was an able to increase its buses and add new terminals.

In 2008, Greyhound Lines introduced BoltBus, which travel between Boston, New York City, and Washington D.C. The cost of the trip is only $1. Greyhound
