Marketing is a process to find out needs of consumers, to create awareness towards products or services to fulfill those needs and thus selling those products or services on behalf of a company. Internet is nowadays used as a successful media to market products or services of a company, which is called Internet advertising and marketing. This is sometimes called online marketing or Emarketing.


Spread of Internet along with its interactive nature has compelled the marketers to use it as an effective media of marketing. Internet advertising and marketing has also grown up due to some other benefits, like reaching a large section of people with spending less amount of money, thus it is relatively less expensive comparing to other methods of marketing. Through internet marketers can get response from the interested people very quickly and easily.

Internet advertising and marketing includes activities like placing advertisement on different websites, publishing articles and press releases on the internet, making online market research, sending e-mails to internet users consisting different offers and information on prices. These mentioned processes combine to form the internet advertising and marketing strategy of a company. CPM (Cost per Impression), CPV (Cost per Visitor) and CPC (Cost per Click) are three ways to purchase advertising opportunities on the internet.

There are some striking advantages of Internet advertising and marketing. Since one goes through the messages provided in the advertisement or to the offers personally, it enables a company to reach the targeted customers. Again, more or less all forms of online marketing can be found out by the number of clicks on the advertisement or offers placed on the internet. So later on it can be analyzed and helps to characterize between different advertisements or offers.

There are some disadvantages too of Internet advertising and marketing. A large number of people are still unaware or less knowledgeable of Internet usage. They still depend on traditional mediums of advertisement and marketing, like print media or direct marketing, for product knowledge. So advertising and marketing only on the Internet is not a fruitful way, because will keep aside non-internet users. So Internet can be used as a strong media of advertisement and marketing if it is blend with other forms of marketing in a right way. It is required to put a thought on marketing mix.

There are also some security concerns related with Internet advertisement and marketing. Customers buying some products online are skeptical with thought whether they will get the right product they had chosen to purchase. Another concern is the fear of exposing credit card number on the Internet to shop online. More and more protective measures will compel people to buy products online. Internet marketing
