A parent who pays extremely close attention to his or her child is known to be a helicopter parent and they are ready to come to rescue at the first sign of difficulty or disappointment. They are called pushy dads, and hovering moms, they run interference, they pave the way, they fight their kids battles for them, and protect them at any cost. The protection may be the good intention at the heart of the parents who choose this approach but there are consequences.
