Barbara Taylor Bradford Best Selling British Fiction Writer Of Hold the Dream


Barbara Taylor Bradford is a best-selling writer of fiction from England. She holds the distinction of being the first writer in the history of publishing to produce twenty-two successive best-selling novels on both sides of the Atlantic. In 2007 Queen Elizabeth II conferred on Bradford the Order of British Empire in recognition of the latters contribution to literature.

Barbara Taylor Bradford was born on May 10, 1933 at Leeds in West Yorkshire, England. While growing at Armley, she attended the Town Street Church of England School. After passing out from school, Bradford took up a typing job at the Yorkshire Evening Post which she left in order to study journalism. After graduating she became the fashion editor of Womans Own magazine and before moving on to Fleet Street to become a columnist and editor of London Evening News.

Barbara Taylor Bradford made her debut as a novelist in 1979 with A Woman of Substance. The book has more than 30 million copies in print and continues to be ranked as one of the top ten best sellers in history. Other novels of the Emma Harte Saga to be written by Bradford in the following years were Hold the Dream, To Be the Best, Emmas Secret, Unexpected Blessings and Just Rewards.

In 2006 Barbara Taylor Bradford came up with the first book of the Deravenel Trilogy which was titled The Ravenscar Dynasty. Next year she released Heirs of Ravenscar in the UK which was brought out under the title of The Heir in North America. Other than these she has written fifteen more novels and in all twenty-two of her fictions have made it to the best-selling lists of both United Kingdoms and United States.

Barbara Taylor Bradford is regarded as one of the most successful woman novelists of the English language to have emerged in the past half-century. Her books have sold more than eighty million copies in around ninety countries of the world. Her novels have been translated in forty languages. Her novels have also found their way into television with ten of them being adapted into mini-series.

Currently Barbara Taylor Bradford lives in New York City and is reputed to be one of the richest living authors. She has been married to the television producer Robert Bradford for more than forty-three years. Her image has found way onto postage stamps and her personal fortune is estimated at 145 million sterling pounds. Barbara Taylor Bradford
