
The Flamingo Las Vegas is the name given to a hotel casino that is situated on Las Vegas Strip based in Paradise, Nevada. Harrah's Entertainment is the owner of this hotel. The Flamingo Hotel is comprised of 3,626 rooms and the casino covered the area of 77,000 square feet, which is equal to 7,200 square meter.
The neon of the structure is pink in color as a result of which it is also called in the name of Pink Hotel. It also provides the Las Vegas Monorail station based at the backside of the property. Charles Pops Squires, who was the initial settlers of Las Vegas was the real owner of 40 acres area of the Flamingo Hotel. Mr. Squires contributed $8.75 for an acre as the purchase cost of the land. Margaret Folsom purchased this site from Squires by paying the amount of $7,500 in the year 1944.
Margaret Folsom again sold this land in the hands of Billy Wilkerson, who also owned Hollywood Reporter. He was also the owner of few famous nightclubs located in the Sunset Strip namely La Rue's, Ciro's as well as Cafe Trocadero. In order to prepare his vision, Wilkerson bought 33 acres based on the western region of U.S. Route 91 and approximately one mile (1.6 km) on the southern part of the Last Frontier. The Pink Flamingo Hotel and Casino was at last inaugrated by the Siegel as on 26th December, 1946 with a total expenditure incurred amounted to $6 million.
Siegel gave the title to the resort in the honour of his girlfriend namely Virginia Hill, whose nickname was Flamingo. The four towers of the Flamingo Hotel were established in the years 1967, 1975, 1977, 1982, 1990, as well as in 1995. A restaurant namely Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville was inaugrated in the year 2004 to increase the Caribbean theme of the hotel. Various pictures were also shooted in this hotel like Ocean's Eleven in the year 1960, Ocean's Eleven in 2001 as well as the movie of the year 1964 called as Viva Las Vegas.
In the earlier times this hotel was entitled in different names like The Flamingo from the year 1950 to 1952, The Fabulous Flamingo for the time between 1952 to 1974 as well as Flamingo Hilton starting from 1974 till 1999.
