Big D and Kid's Table is a music band that follows the genre of third wave ska music. The band was formed at Allston in Massachusetts in October 1995, when the members met in college. Big D and Kid's Table debuted under their home label Fork In Hand Records. But they also tied up with Springman Records and Side One Dummy. The speciality of the band is its work ethics where the members themselves engineer, produce and release their albums. Even the videos for the albums are conceived and shot by them. Besides the band itself promotes its stage shows.
This was an effective method tried by the Big D and Kid's Table to understand the pulse of its audience as well as judge the possibility of success or failure. After getting positive vibes from the people, and re-recording after making the necessary changes the band finally released the collection of songs in a CD format in 2003.
Till date the Big D and Kid's Table have done more than two hundred stage shows per year. Vans Trapped Tour has even acknowledged the band as its regular performer. The notable musical tours of the band includes the Ska is Dead Tour and the Summer of Ska Tour in 2006. The present members of the band are David McWane as the lead vocalist and melodica-player, Sean P. Rogan as the backing vocalist and guitarist and Steve Foote at the bass. The other members are John Reilly at the drums and omnichord, Paul E. Cuttler at the trombone, Dan Stoppelman at the trumpet nd Ryan O'Conner at the tenor saxophone.
There is a debate on how the band got its strange name. While some say that the name was firmly proposed by the best friend of Dave McWane, the lead singer himself said that once he was casually playing music with his friends when a show organiser approached them with a cheque without a name . Later it was the organiser who started calling them Big D and Kid's Table.
