Carl Edward Sagan or Carl Sagan was born on the 9th of November, 1934 and had breathed his last on the 20th of December, 1996. He was one of the reputed astronomers and astrochemist in America who had helped immensely in making astronomy, astrophysics and natural sciences popular among the people worldwide. One of the feathers in his hat was his pioneering of Exobiology that promoted SETI or Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence.

He had also co written and presented the TV series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage in the 1980s which had won many awards. Sagan has more than 600 scientific papers to his credit and has been the author, co-author and the editor for more than 20 books in his lifetime.

The major scientific work that had been done by him was the calculation of the high surface temperature of the planet Venus. He calculated the temperature by investigating the radio emissions that was coming from the planet and had come to conclusion of the temperature being 500 °C or 900 °F.

Another of the scientific work that was done by Carl Sagan was his hypothesis of the Titan which is the moon of the Saturn and Europa which is the moon of Jupiter and the possibility of having oceans on the moon of Jupiter. The hypothesized that there is Ocean, subsurface Ocean and lakes on the Europa and thus concluded that there may be a possibility of finding life on the moon. His hypothesis was confirmed by the pictures taken by spacecraft Galileo.

One of the main ground breaking researches that had been done by Carl Sagan was on the subject of Extra Terrestrial life. He had made the demonstration of producing amino acids in laboratory conditions from basic chemicals by using radiation.
