
The Omni Hotels Indianapolis also called as The Hotel Severin, which was inaugrated in the year 1913 and earlier named as the Grand Hotel of Indianapolis. It is in recent times found as among the remains in the Indianapolis Union Station Wholesale District and is included in the list National Register of Historic Places.
Omni Hotels Indianapolis is situated across Jackson Place which is at a distance from Union Station (Indianapolis) headhouse. In the month of July 1988, Mansur Development Corporation purchased the Atkinson Hotel and invested $40 million in its development to provide it with a high profile look and it finally opened again with the name as the Omni Severin Hotel. All the reconstructions and additions of extra rooms resulted in the hotel having sixty varieties of guestrooms that adds beauty as well as unique feature to it in comparison to other hotels. The mailbox belonging to the year 1913 is still providing services as the working mailbox in the Omni Hotels Indianapolis in the recent times as well.
The remarkable things that were taken from the original hotel were the furniture items placed on all the places where the elevator landed and the items were actually the dressers that earlier formed part of the hotel. Nowadays the Omni Hotels Indianapolis is regarded as the only grand hotel of the city and was titled as a historic place of the city. It is also called as one of the ancient as well as biggest hotel of the downtown Indianapolis.
