Saving Private Ryan Directed By Steven Spielberg Academy Winner


Saving Private Ryan is an Academy Award winning war film that was released on July 24, 1998. Directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Robert Rodat this film is based on incidents that took place during World War II. The budget of this movie was around $70,000,000. The movie was distributed by Dream Works in Canada and US and by Paramount Pictures for rest of the world.

The movie Saving Private Ryan was produced by four including Steven Spielberg, Ian Bryce, Mark Gordon, Gary Levinsohn. The production companies involved were Dream Works, Paramount Pictures, Amblin Entertainment, Mutual Film Corporation, and Mark Gordon Productions. John Williams was the music director of this movie.

The eminent Hollywood heroes who starred this marvelous movie Saving Private Ryan were Tom Hanks, Edward Burns, Tom Sizemore, Barry Pepper, Adam Goldberg, Giovanni Ribisi, Matt Damon, Vin Diesel, Paul Giamatti and many others. Michael Kahn was the editor and Janusz Kaminski was the cinematographer. The main theme of this movie is based upon D-day invasion of Normandy during World War II.

The opening 24 minutes of the movie is excellent where it depicts the Omaha Beachhead assault on June 6, 1944. Tom Hanks played the role of Captain John Miller. This is basically a movie that has shown war like situation between American soldiers and Germans soldiers. Saving Private Ryan is so named because the fourth son of Ryan family or the Private Ryan, played by Matt Damon, was found missing and it became the task of American troops to find out Private Ryan and send him immediately.

The idea of this story came to Robert Rodats mind when he came across the monument dedicated to eight brothers who were killed during the American Civil War at Putney Corners in New Hampshire. Robert then did some research work and decided to write a similar story based upon facts during World War II. He together with the director Spielberg, producer Mark Gordon and actor Tom Hanks sat in a chat and all consented on making the movie Saving Private Ryan happen.

The movie Saving Private Ryan has been an excellent movie and will be critically noted for such a realistic portrayal of World War II. According to the Empire magazine the first 24 minutes of this movie is the best battle scene of all time. The movie was a great commercial success. Saving Private Ryan
