Catherine Elizabeth Deeley Model Disc Jockey Television Personality


Catherine Elizabeth Cat Deeley popularly known as Cat Deeley was born on 23rd October 1976 in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands in England. She is a former fashion model, an English disc jockey and a television personality by profession. At 21, she gained popularity not only for co-hosting SMTV Live, a program of children including Declan Donnelly and Anthony McPartlin, but also for hosting the program, Stars in their Eyes from 2004 and So You Think You Can Dance from the start of season 2 in the year 2006.

Catherine Elizabeth Deeley was admitted to Grove Vale Infant School located in Great Barr in Birmingham and then studied in Dartmouth High School. After this, she studied in the Sixth Form of Bishop Vesys Grammar School. She became a fashion model for full time after getting four A-levels and nine A grade GCSEs at school. Before this, she had taken part in The Clothes Show, a regional BBC competition and reached the finals. It was then that she signed a contract with the Storm modelling agency and abbreviated her first name to Cat as there were various other storm models with the name Catherine.

In 1994, Catherine Elizabeth Deeley appeared for the first time on television on the daytime show Kilroy as a model. After two years, she left her modeling career and in 1997 became a presenter on MTV UK. She generally co-hosted the show with her friend Edith Bowman. She co-hosted the Saturday morning childrens program, SMTV Live along with Ant & Dec from the period 1998 to 2002 and also acted as a host of its spin-off shows CD:UK during 1998 to 2005 and CD: UK Hotshots. She was awarded a Childrens BAFTA award for best presenter in 2001 and was also made an appearance in one of the episodes of BBC named Happiness.

Catherine Elizabeth Deeley also appeared in a TV advertisement of British high street store, Mark Spencer in the year 2002. Fame Academy, Capital FM, The Record of the Year, BBC Choice series Roadtripping, and The 2004 BRIT Awards are some of the other shows hosted by her. She was made patron of Great Ormond Street Hospital in the year 2003. Her long term relationship with Mark Whelan, PR Executive broke down because of her desire to work in Hollywood. After this in May 2006, she traveled to Los Angeles, as per her late night TV interview given to Craig Ferguson.

Catherine Elizabeth Deeley took the interview of Kylie Minogue for a television show which was telecasted on 16th July 2006 on Sky One in the United Kingdom and on 17th July 2006 on Channel Nine in Australia and on 9th September 2006 on BBC America. In 2006 and 2007, she hosted the New Years Eve special of Fox organized by Times Square. She acts as an entertainment contributor for ABC News providing news about several award shows like Academy Awards, Golden Globes and the Grammy. She hosted the 6th season of American Idol for ITV2 in 2007. Cat Deeley
