Charlie Stross Science Fiction Fantasy Love Story Writer In Edinburgh


Charlie Stross was born in the year 1964 on October 18th 1964. He is based in Edinburgh at Scotland and works with varied subjects like from science fiction to fantasy along with love stories as well as in the horror genre. Most of his writings are considered to be in a different genre that has come up in the recent past in Britain. These works specialize in Science Fiction as well as space operas.

Charlie Stross has been influenced in his writings with figures like Vernor Vinge, William Gibson, Ken MacLeod, Alastair Reynolds. In the years of the 70s and 80s he went on to publish some articles that were related to role-playing games. These articles were written for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons series that were published in the White Dwarf magazine.

Some of the creatures that Charlie Stross created, such as the death knight also called githyanki was taken from George R. R. Martin's work called the Dying of the Light. Also notable were a race that was famous for its rigid caste system called the githzerai, and salad. These works were later published in the Fiend Folio monster compendium.

Charlie Stross came out with his first published short story called The Boys that was published in the Interzone in the year 1987. Singularity Sky was his first novel and had been published by the famous Ace Books in the year 2003. The book was nominated for the very popular Hugo Award. In the year 2002 he again came out with a powerful collection of short stories. This came out in the book called Toast: And Other Rusted Futures which was published in the year 2002.

Charlie Stross went on to write a number of short stories subsequently that were again nominated for the Hugo Awards. These short stories also went onto bag awards like the Nebula Award. Stross also wrote a novella called The Concrete Jungle that was also made available online. This work won him the Hugo award again in the category of online books in the year 2005.In the year 2006 he came out with the novel Accelerando that was also made available online which won him the Locus Award.

This was the best science fiction novel published in that year and was also adjudged the finalist for the John W. Campbell Memorial Award. This award was in the category of the year's best science fiction novel. It was also on the final ballot for the Hugo Award that was in the best novel category. Charlie Strosss next novel Glasshouse went on to win the 2007 Prometheus Award and was also nominated in the best novel category for the Hugo Award. In the recent years one of his novellas called the Missile Gap was adjudged the best novella in the year 2007 in the Locus Award. Charles Stross
