Canon Powershot Camera Found In A5 A3xx A4xx Sx SXxx G Series

Canon Powershot camera is the consumer range of digital cameras from Canon which was launched in 1995. This range is one of the largest selling ranges of digital cameras in the world. Currently Powershot is available under a few series names clustered according to their levels and complexity of functions.

In the Canon Powershot camera range, the A series of cameras are the easy and fun cameras covering the widest range of features from the beginners point and shoot to almost all the prosumers. This is also the budget line of cameras from Canon. The higher end A series cameras can often challenge the just higher range of G-Series cameras that are considered akin to the DSLRs in many functions.

The Canon Powershot A series camera was launched in April 1998 with the A5 series which is the very basic point and shoot variety. It had only a 1 megapixel sensor and fixed 35 mm lens. A later zoom variant f the A5 was launched with a zoom range between 28mm and 70mm.The Axx series was launched in May 2001 and it allowed full manual control and it later branched off into A3xx, A4xx, A5xx, A6xx and A7xx series of cameras. The A 75 was the first 3.2 megapixel camera and A95 was the first in the 5 MP ranges. The A4xx series was the first to use the SD card as the storage device. Earlier it was the Compact Flash card. In 2007 the optical image stabilization was introduced in the A5xx, A6xx and A7xx series.

The Sx and SXxx series of Canon Powershot camera are the range of cameras with ultrazoom. It means that the camera sported lenses between 35 and 420 mm. Each of the cameras had optical image stabilizers. The first in the series was the S1 IS launched in March 2004. It had a 3.2 MP sensor while the latest in the series, the S5 IS has a 8 MP sensor.

The Canon Powershot G series camera is a prosumer series that has most of the features of a dSLR but without the bulk. The features of the G series include hot shoe for external flash, Li-ion battery, flip out and twist LCD, RAW image format, lens with wide maximum aperture remote nad faster image capture. The Canon Powershot digital ELPH or the S or SD series of camera is the ultracompact variety. It is also known as the Digital IXUS and IXY Digital. The models weigh between 210 and 275 grams and the earliest was released in June 2000. The latest in the series, 80 IS/ SD1100 IS/ 20 IS, was launched in January 2008 and features an 8MP sensor and weighs 125 gm without batteries.
