
WIVB-TV is the CBS television link in Buffalo, New York and also in Toronto, Ontario. It is possessed by LIN TV Corporation and was initiated in October 1945. The channel first started publicizing and broadcasting on May 13, 1948 as WBEN –TV, nearly three years later when its possessor the Buffalo Evening News made a claim for license. It is popularly known as the oldest television channel in the marketplace and one of the oldest in the country.
In the beginning being the only television network in Buffalo WIVB-TV televised its analog signal on VHF channel 4 and its digital signal on UHF channel 39. Both the channels are functioned through WISH-TV hub facility positioned in Indianapolis, Indiana. Its website is www.wivb.com and it started its program from all four channels of the time known as CBS, NBC, ABC and the Dumont Television channel. The television channel was bought up by the newspaper publisher Robert Howard of Oceanside, California for $25.5 million. The new holder altered Channel 4's name sign to WIVB, which means we're 4 Buffalo. WIVB was again put up for sale and this time it was bough up by King World Productions. In the year 2000, WIVB's channel was acquired by LIN and named as WNEQ channel 23, the area secondary PBS partner.
In 23rd January 2001, WNEQ was again inaugurated as WNLO, an autonomous channel and almost immediately WIVB started news broadcasting at 10 p.m on WNLO. On May 18 2007, LIN TV made a declaration that it is investigating planned substitute that would help in the auction of the corporation. WIVB has made its mark as the first news channel in Western New York after its competitor WKBW's. The channel is appreciated for its work, dedication and everyday becomes the winner after the ratings are done.
It broadcast news from morning till night and the channel is leading in the market. The channel and its team have received many Emmy awards together with one in the year 1999. According to the current announcement made on the WIVB the main meteorologist Don Paul has been chosen Buffalo's much loved television personality. WIVB is among the only WNY news channel to have four permanent meteorologists on work 7 days a week. They are the exceptionally knowledgeable people to work in WNY television.
