Food science is a contemporary discipline which covers all the technical aspects of food. It comprises all the process related to food making from harvesting or slaughtering, to cooking and consumption. It is mostly a part of the agricultural sciences. The food scientists develop new food products. They introduce new processes to produce these foods. They choose packaging materials. They studies shelf-life. Food microbiology is another subject which deals with the positive and negative relations between micro-organisms and foods .Food preservation is used to identify the causes of quality degradation and also to find out the way to prevent it.Food engineering is the industrial processes. It is used in manufacturing different kinds of food .Product development is the most attractive field of Food science. In this field

Food chemistry is another field of study which experiments with the molecular composition of food as well as their involvement in chemical reactions. The study of the packaging of processed food to preserve it is called food processing.

Molecular gastronomy is the study of the scientific research of processes like cooking, social & artistic gastronomical experiences. Food technology is the study of the technological aspects and is a part of food science. The physical aspects such as viscosity, creaminess, texture etc of foods are studied in Food physics.

Food microbiology is the study which research about the microorganisms .It explores the world of microorganisms. How they inhabit, produce or infect food is a topic that is discussed by food science. The study of microorganisms gives main importance on cause of food spoilage. However there are also good bacteria such as probiotics are very much helpful and has an important role in food science.
