WNDU NBC Affiliated Television Network In South Bend Indiana

WNDU-TV refers to the television station that is located in South Bend, Indiana and has an affiliation to the NBC television network. The transmitter of this station is located in South Bendand. It carries out its broadcasting on HDTV Channel 42 with the extra simulcasting done of a local doppler radar image. WNDU-TV started airing on July 15, 1955 on Channel 46 and has its owner as University of Notre Dame, which is a subsidiary of Michiana Television Corporation.

With lots of celebrations it initiated with its work on Channel 16 in the year 1957. From its very start it had its affiliation with NBC and its initial broadcasting program comprised of Romper Room as well as the first telecast of the football game that was played locally at Notre Dame. WNDU also came up with the broadcasting of Sesame Street, a non commercial program, starting from the year 1970 to 1974 till the time when the PBS member station namely WNIT started airing its programs.

In the year 1980, WNDU TV carried out the broadcasting of its news through a helicopter. In 1994 with the growing demand for news, it concentrated on a news cast for a duration of three hours by putting a halt to the cartoon show that was broadcasted on Saturday morning. In recent times WNDU is involved with broadcating of qubo programming of NBC, which takes the three out of the four hours alloted on Saturday followed with the ultimate broadcasting at 7am at Sunday mornings.

It also airs the talk show of Regis Philbin right from the day it has been launched. The Gray Television purchased WNDU from the University of Notre Dame as on 5th March, 2006 by making a payment of $85 million in cash. The sale proceeds as received by the university was transferred by them to an endowment fund. At the beginning of the year 2007, it was stated that WNDU will be organising the Master Control operations of in Lansing, Michigan, where its Gray sister station namely WILX-TV is situated.

Most of the staff members of the WNDU contributes their duties in double in the form of anchors as well as news correspondents. The most important performance was played by the members namely Cindi Clawson as a meteorologist, Alana Greenfogel and Marcie Kobriger as a reporter, senior reporter Mark Peterson, anchor of Saturday morning as well as the reporter of the morning Joel Schipper and many more.
